Tonya Drew
“I’ve been a yoga practitioner for 20 years and have been teaching yoga since 2010. In 2017, I received a Master of Science in Yoga Therapy. Maryland University of Integrative Health. As a sustainable movement educator/yoga therapist, I serve a variety of clients with goals ranging from fitness/flexibility training to pain relief and managing structural conditions of the body. My primary focus is mental health and helping individuals manage anxiety and depression using the tools of yoga. Specializing in stress reduction, nervous system regulation, and somatic inquiry, I believe in a whole-person approach to healing through lifestyle medicine. I have a passion for movement-based education that helps others meet themselves and achieve their personal goals.”
What is Yoga Therapy?
Although all yoga is potentially therapeutic and healing, yoga therapy is the specific application of yogic tools – postures/ exercises, breathwork, meditation, techniques, and more – to address an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. The Yogic model of health is unique because it addresses every aspect of life rather than considering each body part or system separately.
